Scrapping for ME!!!

It finally happened, I actually did a layout just for myself! Now, this might not sound like a big accomplishment, and it really isn't, except, well...it is for me!! I get soooo sidetracked during my days that I rarely ever scrapbook! I try to scrap, I start to scrap but then it happens, the computer sucks me in, the house needs something to be done, phone rings and I talk for awhile, back to the message boards, back to "looking" at what I want to scrap...yadda, yadda, yadda!! Then, when I do scrap, it's usually for some obligation I have, a circle journal (which, don't get me wrong, I love doing them), a challenge, a deadline for a magazine submission or article I'm writing, and while I do scrap, I don't consider those "for me" scraps!! Today, the house is clean, the laundry is done, Roger is due home, the weather is kinda blah, grey and cooler, and so I actually scrapped! I've gone to 8x8 layouts..I just like this size better, my brain handles them better too! While I have a ton of 12x12 albums, I am going to do 8x8's from now on, and I feel so free LOL!!

So, here is what I did today....nothing too elaborate. It's a picture of my dad. I scanned the original for use in the layout. I remember as a little girl seeing this picture of my dad sitting on my mom's dresser (it's so cute, they each had a picture framed of the other one on their dressers). I always thought my dad looked so handsome, so young (well...he was!) and wondered (still do) what he was thinking when he took this photo? anyways, he was the subject of my scrapping today. I scanned the layout and the colors look a little off...wonder what's up with that?? The background paper is Bazzill cardstock in a yummy maroon color, goes perfectly with the Foof-a-La papers. The picture is actually a sepia tone (that didn't show up so well either). I did some basic stitching, stamped the "diamonds" (which are actually squares on the diagonal) using my 7Gypsies stampers, used Thickers for the letters to spell out "dad", some AC rub-ons and printed onto a transparency his name: Philip Howard Lindsey. A little ink around the edges and I am done! Oh yeah, used a Creative Imaginations chipboard embellishment and some black photo corners!
Okay, I feel better now! LOL!! I'm actually inspired to see if I can do at least one 8x8 layout a week now..make that my summer goal! We'll see....

Until next time,
Blessings!
