Project Life - Week One

I did it! I finished Week One in my Project Life album. I was a little unsure as to how this was going to work for me, having lost my creative mojo the last couple years, but something about this project, plus moving into a new space with a brand new scrap room had me wanting to dive back into scrapbooking. I'm taking a different approach than before with my memory keeping. I'm not doing the traditional 12x12 layouts anymore, just don't have the desire, that's why Project Life intrigued me so. After working on my first layout I knew that this would be the way I'd scrapbook and document our lives from here on in! I love the simplicity of this, it's totally me. I suppose that I lost a lot of my energy for the way I used to scrapbook due to the pressure to make everything so froo-froo with tons of buttons and flowers and embellies. I've always been a simple scrapbooker and while I could pull off the overly embellished layouts, it was always a struggle, leaving me sort of exhausted by the process both emotionally and physically. Project Life has given me a renewed sense of, well, myself really!! I love that it's basically pictures and journaling. Don't get me wrong, I will include a few "extras" like some flair or tags or washi, but no more of the bits and bobs that lumped up my layouts of previous years!! Here is my first week's layout (forgive the poor quality photo, I'm so not a photographer, LOL)...
The "hello twenty thirteen" was a free printable by the lovely Cathy Zielske (just love her style)! I'm also participating in Kristin Tweedale's Currently list which I think is awesome, how cool will it be to look back in years to come and see the things I was enjoying in the moment! I didn't do too much extra journaling other than the Week In Review card at the top (thanks to Monica Coffman for her inspiration on that one!), but I'm okay with that. Other than those items, I printed a quote I liked onto some cardstock, made my Week One title card and the rest are pics of my week! I am totally loving Project Life!
