A visitor!

Wow, it's been a long time no blog for me huh? Been busy getting my stuff ready for the big trip and I've been trying to organize my laptop of all it's digi scrapping stuff...what a chore I tell ya! I'm almost done, actually think I'll be able to finish before we take off next Thursday, so, I can digi scrap on the airplane!! I know, it's nuts huh? LOL!!

I'm also a bit frustrated!! I'm trying so hard to learn my digi camera and lens but it still seems like every picture I take stinks!!! I dunno, maybe I'm just meant to be a snapshot kinda person?? I'm taking all my gear with me on the trip but I tell ya, when I look at the pics I've taken this weekend, I think to myself, why bother?? Just take your point and shoot and call it good to go! Still need to think this over.....

Okay, so last weekend my sister was in for a visit. It was nice to hang out with her for a few days and luckily (for her LOL) the weather here was FABULOUS!! We spent most of Sunday hanging on the patio, barbequing and chatting. I got waaay too much sun though, can't believe I wasn't more aware of that but with the nice breeze and mild temps I just never felt the sun burning me! Yesterday, though, was her last day here..boo! We went to breakfast at my favorite restaurant and then spent some time browsing the antique mall. I found some cool antique buttons for my scrap stash and a little box to hold my new 7Gypsies stamps, SCORE! Then it was off to dinner with everyone and back to my house to watch American Idol and have some ice cream. I took a few, horrible shots of Mandi and Shari and this is about the best one I have...ugh! I gotta learn this camera thing!!

So, there you have it! Shari is now back in Arizona and our visit felt very short but sweet! I'm going to call it a night now, Lost is on in a bit and that is definitely MUST SEE tv!!

Until next time,

Blessings!

Great picture...you'll master your camera before too long!! Although I am one who grabs my point and shoot for just about everything as I do get frustrated easily with my other camera and the lenses. Good luck....

I'm glad you had a great visit. I understand how frustrating the camera thing can be. I get a pict in my brain and most of the time it doesn't match what is on the screen. I think your picts are always great!

Oh it's a good pic! I'd check all the settings; many of my goofs are from having one setting just a bit off! I hope you can work it out and get great shots on your trip!

I know what you mean about the "Jones" camera. Hey, did you realize that you are part of the "Jones" club??? LOL

Glad you got to visit with your sister!

Let's make a date for when you get back in town!

Hi Cricket,

I learnt a little trick about taking portrait shots from the girls at my scrap store. Basically its a technique employed by a lot of photographers in that the subjects are positioned below the level of the camera and are leaning forward. This is a flattering pose for the subjects and brings their faces to the foreground hence being the main feature of the shot. Also, leaning in towards each other is good too. For some good examples, Elsie Flanigan has the poses mastered. Also, the best shots are taken when the subject's shoulders are NOT square on to the camera. By turning and tilting slightly, it adds some interest. Give it a go, play and see what comes up!

I'm no master by any means but I hope this helps.
