Halloween already??

so, here it is, what many people consider to be the final weekend of summer, Labor Day weekend! I've said it before and I'll say it again..where did summer go? Time just seemed to whiz by this year...faster than usual...and, that makes me sad. Sad that time is passing as quickly as it has, and sad that winter is now on it's way towards me. I swear, 4 more winters and I am the heck outta here! I decided that while Roger has said if I wanted to move, we could, but with Mandi only having 4 more years of school left, I would just stick it out. Mandi and I were talking today though, and we both decided that once she graduates, we are both going to get as far away from snow as we possibly can!! So..here I will sit, and here you will read as I piss and moan on my blog here about the hell that is winter in Chicago!

Alright, enough of that, it's not winter yet...however, I have been working towards fall. Fall I love. Fall I could live in year round! With the kids back to school, it's put me in a fallish mood!! Recently, on Scrapfreak, they offered a project kit and I couldn't pass it up! Truth be told, I hadn't really considered doing it until I purchased these fabulous papers and it hit me...the August Project Freak Kit would soooo rock for them! I'm talking Halloween people!! I got the yummiest papers from Making Memories (which, is about my most favorite manufacturer around!)...their Spellbound line had me totally in love! I grabbed up a ton of the papers and embellies! I came home after my shopping spree and immediately ordered my Freak Kit. The kit this month was an adorable Maya Road chipboard house (the villa). Included with the kit were extra chipboard embellies, buttons, ribbons, flowers and hinges. I chose not to use these (putting them in safe keeping for another time) and instead used up a ton of Halloween stuff that I had been hoarding as well as the new MM stuff I just bought. I spent about a week noodling on the idea of what I wanted the house to look like and this is the final result...just completed last night! I had such a great time making this Haunted House!

I'm still trying to decide what to put into the house. The houses come complete with chipboard mini's inside, which is totally cool, but I'm not sure if I want to do a mini or just use it as is...

So, yeah, Labor Day weekend and not much going on here. Took Miss Mandi to the faire today, one last hurrah (or should I say Hazzah) before it closes..got a way cool new purse and date book, and got Mandi a cool new journal! We munched on our favorite butterfly chips and cheese fritters (can you say low cal? LOL), and walked around enjoying all the sites! Next year both her and I are going to look into getting summer jobs there...what fun would that be!!

Tomorrow I plan on hanging out in the pool, probably near the last time I'll do so this season (boo hoo) and then Monday it is bbq'ing with my mom..

There ya have it...my weekend in a nutshell. Nothing too exciting but fun nonetheless! Hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

Until next time,
Blessings!
