High School...not the Musical!

Well, it's happened! My "baby", my "little one", my "sweet pea" is now 15 and in high school! How did this happen? When did she grow up? From where did this young lady appear and where did my little girl go?? I can't tell you how freaky it is to me that my child is now in high school and will be taking drivers education in the near future!

So, yep, Mandi started school yesterday! I moped yesterday! I've said it before and I'll say it again...I like having her home! I like having her with me during the days, even if we don't hang out every minute, just the fact that she is here with me makes me feel good, and every summer I stress about the first day of school and losing her again for another year....during the day that is! LOL

Yesterday was no different! Monday was her birthday and we spent pretty much the entire weekend celebrating since we knew she would need to go to bed earlier than she has been because school was starting the next morning! Tuesday morning arrived, I was up at the crack of dawn and so was Mandi! She had herself all ready and was excited to begin this new phase in life! Me, not so much LOL! After she left for the bus, it started...my blue mood! I spent most of the day kinda blah and mopey....got a few things done around the house but not a heck of a lot. I was so happy when Mandi walked in the door after school and told me how fun her first day was! I admit, being that most of her friends went to the other high school in town, I was worried that she wouldn't have anyone to talk to, or eat lunch with..blah, blah, blah! Mandi made some new friends, had lunch with them and said "it's just like junior high Mom, only bigger!"...whew!

so, there it is...my life is now one of being a mom to a high school student! I know that in time I'll get used to the idea, just like Mandi will settle into a life at her new school....and while I am excited for her and for us, that there is a new journey in life we are taking, I just wish that time wasn't going so fast...I'm told that these next 4 years will go by almost in the blink of my eye and before you know it I'll be a mom to a college student!! WHOA...slow down.....not so fast....I'm not even going to start to think about that, it's too much for this mom's mind to handle, think I'll just enjoy high school for now!

(ready for Freshman Year 2/19/08)

Until next time,
Blessings!
